Cattle Feed Manufacturing Process
What is the Cattle Feed Production Process?
There are several stages to the manufacturing of cattle feed. Each stage requires a different type of feed processing equipment.

- Step 1: Raw Materials Reception & Cleaning Process
The first stage is to receive and clean the raw material, such as grains, beans or fish meal, that are used in making pellet feed.
- Step 02 – Feed Crushing Process
The material is then sent to the hammer mill where it is ground into a size that is suitable for making feed pellets.
- Step 3: Feed Mixing Process
After the crushed fodder material is processed, a feed mixer is used to add different ingredients to the feed raw material. This ensures that the final pellet has all the necessary nutrients.
- 04: Cattle Feed Pelleting Process
The most crucial stage of the cattle feed mill is the pelletization stage. This is where the feed powder is transformed into pellets that are the right size and shape. The ring die feed pellet maker has a greater capacity than the flat-die feed pellet machine.
- Step 5: Feed Pellets Cooling Process
The temperature at which the feed pellets were produced is 88 degrees Celsius. They also have a moisture content of 17-18%. The moisture level should be kept below 10-12% for storage, cooling, drying, and drying. The pellet cooler cools the feed pellets and then they are dried to remove moisture.
- Step 06 – Feed Pellets Packaging
Semi-automatic packing machines are used to pack the cattle feed pellets into bags that can be stored or transported to their destination. The feed will be measured by a computerized machine and pneumatically delivered to the bags for packing. The bag containing the pellets will be moved on a conveyor to an area where machines will automatically stitch its open tops so they can be transported.
What are the ingredients in cattle feed?
Cattle are ruminant animals. They can convert low-quality amino acid into high quality amino acids and protein. Feeding ingredients should be different for ruminants and non-ruminants.
To maintain a balanced diet, lipids and green grass are important. The grain should have a proper ratio of 40-50% to 50-60%. Several vitamins and minerals like A,D,E, K,B-complex, C vitamins & P, Ca, Mn, Mg, K, Zn etc minerals should be provided as supplimentasupplementary growth, reproduction and better, performance. Individual cattle may require a different feed formula and a balanced diet depending on their stage, weight and whether they are lactating or not. The owners should seek advice from a registered veterinarian.
What are the Different Types of Cattle Feed?
There are many types of cattle feed available. All of them provide energy and protein as well as other vital nutrients. There are three main types of cattle feed: cattle cubes and pelleted cattle food.

Cattle Cubes
Cattle cubes can help maintain your herd’s weight and condition. They are specially formulated to provide fair and low-quality fodder. Cattle cubes are rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, and vitamins that cows sometimes don’t get from their forage. Cattle cubes are available in a variety of sizes to make it easier for cattle to consume them. Cattle cubes typically contain 20% crude protein, but can also be made with higher protein levels.
TIP: Ground, free-choice cattle cubes are a great way to reduce competition in your herd.
Pelleted Cattle Feed
A combination of various grains, such as cottonseed meal and corn, is used to make pelted cattle feed. Although it can be different in size, it is usually smaller than other feed options.
The thermal process that is used to make pelleted cattle feed is another reason it is easier to digest. Your cattle will receive better nutrition because the thermal process locks in nutrients and amino acids. A valuable side benefit of pelleting is the reduction in dust and waste. Pelletized feed can be medicated to control coccidiosis and improve its efficiency and effectiveness.
Textured Cattle Feed
Textured cattle feed is made with flaked corn, molasses and protein pellets. It also contains vitamins and macro- and micronutrients. Textured cattle feed is sometimes called “sweet feed” because it contains molasses. However, today’s textured feed has a benefit: it is more palatable and is better for cattle.
Importance Nutrients in Cattle
Profits can be maximized by using balanced nutrients for cattle. The animal must receive the necessary nutrients in the right amounts and proportions. These nutrients are essential for good cattle nutrition. Feeds that provide balanced nutrients can help cattle get these nutrients. It is essential to understand how animals digest feeds to be able to better understand their use.
For good health and a higher milk yield, cattle require proper nutrition. For cattle growth, some essential feed ingredients can be a great nutrient supplement. Corn, wheat, soya beans, and other grains are all important ingredients in cattle feed. Grains are the best choice for cattle feed because they have high nutritional content, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, and carbohydrates. Wheat is an easily digestible source for nutrients that can be added to cattle feed ingredients in order to maintain a healthy digestion.
These ingredients are important for maintaining good health and promoting high milk yield. These ingredients also aid in the physical development and growth of cattle.
How to set up a cattle feed processing plant

This trend can be used to make easy money by setting up cattle feed processing plants. You don’t need to have a large budget. Two things are most important when starting a livestock feed production plant or livestock feed manufacturing business. One is the feed ingredients. It is best to have a unique formula. The second is advanced feed processing equipment.
Good cattle feed formula: Determine what nutrients your animal requires to gain weight and remain healthy. Then, determine what livestock feed formula to make based on the livestock variety, additives such as vitamins, amino acids and minerals.
1) Buy the Cattle Feed Ingredients
Based on the cattle feed recipe you’ve chosen, get the ingredients.
- Popular for energy are cassava grits and corn ingredients.
- Use wheat wastes to make proteins and some carbs
- Oyster shells, bone meals, fish, bones, and palm kernels for oils, salts, or minerals
2) Buy Cattle Feed Making Machine
Your feed production requirements will determine the machinery you need. The essential equipment for cattle feed production is the grinder, mixer, pelleting machines, freezer, and packaging bags.
